Why Sketch and Scoot?Art, specifically drawing, is a brilliant skill which strengthens a child's dexterity, creative thinking and problem-solving, as well as boosting their confidence and supporting their well-being. After a number of years helping others run children's activity weeks/days (www.mixandmunch.com) Natalie (founder of Sketch & Scoot) increasingly spotted that children loved to draw, play with colours and use their wild and wonderful imaginations to create characters and tell stories. Natalie frequently noticed that when she was urban sketching in London, a patter of small feet would regularly approach her, with a small voice often asking "what ya doing"? Instantly she would stop, stoop down and show the interested child her drawing, who would become animated and itching to grab a pencil and join in. She also found that Parents and Carers would then approach and regularly stated they wished they could draw with their kids, but just didn't feel confident.....it was in these moments that the vision of Sketch & Scoot began to form. It is Natalie's desire for Sketch & Scoot to provide children a safe place to explore their drawing skills in and outside of the art room. To maximise their potential and experience the world around them in a new and exciting way.
